Since 2003 I have been counselling in diverse settings such as hospice care, schools, colleges, charities working with abuse and trauma, and in the Mental Health Services of the NHS and the British Army, as well as private practice.

I believe that when life confronts us with emotional pain and difficulties it is important that we don’t have to carry these burdens or struggle on our own.

A trusting relationship with the therapist or counsellor is key to receiving effective help. I therefore seek to provide a safe, compassionate, non-judgmental and supportive space in which hope can grow and we can explore positive ways forward.

It can be daunting to consider reaching out for help, especially when we have managed on our own for – what seems like – forever. Perhaps we think, or are told, that we should be able sort ourselves out, but that’s a lot easier said than done.

The Way I Work

As an Integrative Psychotherapist and Counsellor I draw from a range of approaches, tailoring them to suit your individual needs. You set the pace and direction as we work collaboratively towards your goals.

I am able to work both long and short term and with a more solution-focused outlook.

For me CRM (The Comprehensive Resource Model) is a particularly effective and safe method for working with trauma, both for more recent one-off events as well as long-term, historical relational trauma sometimes experienced in childhood or long-term relationships that may have occurred in an almost un-noticed, accumulative manner, often over many years, leaving behind invisible injuries to self-worth, anxiety disorders and sometimes addictions.

In Integrative Psychotherapy and Counselling we seek to connect again with those lost parts of ourselves so that once more our life energy can flow unhindered and we can live a richer fuller life as whole people.

After many years of working as a psychology researcher, Hannah developed an interest in working therapeutically.  Her training in psychotherapy introduced her to experiential and emotion-focused approaches.  More recently, she embraced the Comprehensive Resource Model (CRM), which she now integrates with other therapeutic modalities.  Hannah has a particular interest in working with complex attachment issues and dissociation in adults.

She is accredited by the British Psychological Society as a Chartered Psychologist and is a Member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy.

My career as a Mental/Health Practitioner includes 20 years as an Occupational Therapist in the NHS. This has given me a para-medical background and a profound acceptance that we cannot separate the mind and body.

My post-grad training in Person Centred Counselling and Psychotherapy started in 2010. I have continued to learn and grow. My work is informed by evidenced-based neuroscience and current research on the advances in psychotherapy approaches and treatments.

I believe that all therapy should be bespoke and individualised. At the end of the day, it’s about you and your need whether it’s:-

• Counselling  –  seeking counsel for something quite specific.
• Life Coaching –  to talk through a decision or a crossroad you are facing.
• Psychotherapy – a CRM journey of healing and recovery from past events. 90min
• Supervision –  for mental health practitioners, counsellors, psychotherapists (COSCA Supervision Cert)

I am an advocate of somatic psychotherapy. This means that it’s more than just a talking therapy.

The Comprehensive Resource Model (CRM) allows the brain and body to establish a physiological state of sufficient safety in order to create a new window of emotional tolerance. This has proven very effective for trauma, addictions, eating disorders, phobias and severe anxiety issues.

You set the pace but together, we build your inner resources to work through the protective layers that have usually taken years to build. Layers that have protected you but also, possibly, stopped the ’truth’ being brought into the light to allow for re-membering, re-framing, re-consolidation, and re-integration.
