Hello, I live in Scotland and can offer an audio-visual service if you feel that we could work together.

My career as a Mental/Health Practitioner includes 20 years as an Occupational Therapist in the NHS. This has given me a para-medical background and a profound acceptance that we cannot separate the mind and body.

My post-grad training in Person Centred Counselling and Psychotherapy started in 2010. I have continued to learn and grow. My work is informed by evidenced-based neuroscience and current research on the advances in psychotherapy approaches and treatments.

I believe that all therapy should be bespoke and individualised. At the end of the day, it’s about you and your need whether it’s:-

• Counselling  –  seeking counsel for something quite specific.
• Life Coaching –  to talk through a decision or a crossroad you are facing.
• Psychotherapy – a CRM journey of healing and recovery from past events. 90min
• Supervision –  for mental health practitioners, counsellors, psychotherapists (COSCA Supervision Cert)

I am an advocate of somatic psychotherapy. This means that it’s more than just a talking therapy.

The Comprehensive Resource Model (CRM) allows the brain and body to establish a physiological state of sufficient safety in order to create a new window of emotional tolerance. This has proven very effective for trauma, addictions, eating disorders, phobias and severe anxiety issues.

You set the pace but together, we build your inner resources to work through the protective layers that have usually taken years to build. Layers that have protected you but also, possibly, stopped the ’truth’ being brought into the light to allow for re-membering, re-framing, re-consolidation, and re-integration.

I initially trained in Psychodynamic Counselling. I have a particular interest in attachment and the way in which our earliest relationships form the blueprint for later relationships. Through my own personal work with trauma I have developed an interest in working with the body. Our earliest experiences of being held, rocked and gazed at cannot be cognitively remembered. However, when we become resourced, when we feel safe enough, then the body is able to remember. CRM provides the resources that we need, during therapy as well as to use between sessions. Personal work with CRM has allowed me to become more securely attached as well as deepening the sense of flow in my life.  I am finally stepping into the person I was meant to be. I have completed the CRM Basic Training, as well as Advanced CRM with Core Self. I have also participated in a small group experiential with Lisa Schwarz.

I practise as a Integrative psychotherapist, Somatic Experiencing Practitioner, CRM Practitioner, and am a lifelong explorer of Franciscan spirituality – of universal inclusion and that ‘everything belongs’ and is interconnected.

I fit my practice round the needs and constraints of clients. Many clients suffer from chronic acute anxiety, life-depleting shame, a pervasive sense of helplessness to find joyful life – its roots often lie deep in early years developmental trauma. Some suffer additional single incident, medical, relational, work related, and other traumas.

CRM and SE are fantastic models for working with clients, particularly with those who like or need to understand what is happening and why they react as they do. They work with the whole person and how all parts of us continually mutually influence each other. The aim is to restore a sense of control to the client in their own life, to build a sense of vitality and pleasure in being alive, and to find a new way of connecting with self, others, and the wider world.
