Hello,

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist practicing in California. I specialize in helping adults and older teens overcome trauma and anxiety so they can heal and take control of their life.

Kate Nesbitt is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. She received her Bachelor of Art’s Degree in Human Behavior Psychology and her Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology, with an emphasis in Spiritual Psychology.

Kate began her career counseling children in the Santa Monica school system, working extensively with the effects of trauma on early childhood development and family systems.  Kate moved from working with children and their families to opening a private practice in Santa Monica where she has focused on helping adults with a wide range of challenges, from anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder, to relationship problems and life transition issues. Kate is particularly proud to be working, in partnership with the Veteran’s Administration Choice Program, treating veterans with PTSD resulting from their military experiences.

Kate has participated in numerous trainings over the years that have added to her expertise in trauma treatment. She studied Body/Mind Integrated Therapy with Dr. Ronald Alexander for five years early in her career. This modality, drawing upon Buddhist, Gestalt and Attachment Theory psychologies, increases clients’ awareness of their bodies in order to be more grounded, and to feel and process their difficult emotions. Kate is also trained in the trauma treatment modalities of EMDR and Brainspotting.

Finally, Kate is trained in Comprehensive Resource Management (CRM). Kate regards CRM as a beautiful coming together of all of the modalities she has learned over the past 20-plus years combined with new, cutting edge techniques backed by a clear understanding of our neurobiology. She is delighted to now use this gentle system that helps to integrate the mind, body and spirit by utilizing the breath, and mindful awareness of the body and emotions, to provide clients with the possibility for deep healing from all manner of trauma.

Kim is a Licensed MFT in California with over 20 years of experience in the field of mental health. Kim specializes in treating attachment disruptions, PTSD, complex trauma, complex grief, DID, DDNOS and addiction disorders. In 1999, Kim began focusing on attachment and trauma disorders. After over 500 hours of training in somatic therapies, Kim now uses CRM exclusively in her private practice. Kim’s unique ability to assist others to heal from trauma and attachment disruptions brings her to CRM as a consultant and a trainer.

Kim has taken her personal experience of childhood trauma along with her professional experience and turned it into a strength allowing her to develop keen insight into the turmoil of others from lack of bonding and positive emotional development. Kim has a unique capacity to understand others and assist them in the process of discovery, exploration and integration. She has a passion to assist others in their quest to become healthy, whole and emotionally regulated individuals.

Kim lives in Perris with her husband and one of her five daughters where she spends her leisure time with her family and three dogs, reading, watching movies and enjoying the outdoors when possible by spending time on the beach, enjoying off-roading or boating at the Colorado River.
